The single elevator struggles with noise and traffic!!! More ventilation is essential in the capsules to prevent overheating!!! Larger towels would be a simple improvement!!! Adjusting the capsule closure for darkness would enhance comfort!!!

During my stay, I enjoyed the convenient access to local attractions, especially the nearby Ueno Park, perfect for a leisurely stroll. The sauna and onsen facilities were a highlight for me, offering a chance to relax after a long day of sightseeing. However, the noise levels at night were quite bothersome. it was difficult to catch a good night's sleep due to the commotion from fellow travelers. Overall, it served my needs for a brief trip without breaking the bank.

The location is prime for those looking to get into the city hustle, lots of food options nearby, and the staff were really friendly. I snagged a capsule with a TV, which was a nice surprise after a long day's travel, made it feel a bit more homey.
It wasn’t cheap by any means, but you know what, for what you get, I can live with that.

Staying here was a culinary adventure! Minutes away, Niku no Ohyama served the best grilled meat, while Sushiro Ueno had the freshest sushi. Plus, the communal vibe and clean facilities made it a cozy experience.
One thing to watch out for is the laundry situation—it’s a bit of a gamble with only one available. Sometimes it took ages for people to pick up their stuff, but the ambiance still kept everything shining.

i almost gave a good review, but i just couldn't ignore the sauna-like capsules, where the air conditioning clearly took their day off. not to mention all the noise with a single elevator, as if i’m not special enough to merit a little peace. maybe a complimentary treat next time would help, but who am i kidding?

The location near Ueno Station really impressed me. I could easily catch a train to Narita Airport in about 40 minutes. The communal bath area definitely stood out. It’s clean and has nice amenities like toothbrushes and razors. My bed was surprisingly comfortable, not what I expected at a capsule hotel. Plus, I loved the vibe of the lounge chairs where I could relax and read manga. However, not everything was perfect. The air conditioning in my capsule felt inadequate. it got really hot at night. I also noticed the noise levels were pretty high with people walking around and talking all night, making it tough to get good rest. I had a bit of trouble getting my bag stored before check-in, which felt unnecessary at times. Finally, the single elevator created a wait during rush hours and sometimes was noisy too. While it had its charm, these factors made the stay less enjoyable than I’d hoped.

Comfortable capsules with TVs and headphones, but very noisy and hot due to poor ventilation.

This place was just a strong match for a swift stopover in Tokyo with good price-value balance. Enjoyed the free lounge wear they provided—it made my stay feel a bit more relaxed. Bring earplugs for a better sleep experience as it can get very noisy at night.

The Ueno Station Hostel Oriental 1 Male Only offers a unique capsule hotel experience at an affordable price. I appreciated the proximity to Ueno Station, just a five-minute walk away. The staff was accommodating during check-in and provided lounge wear for comfort. My capsule included a TV and power outlet, and the communal bath area was well-equipped with everything needed for personal grooming.
Ambient noise at night can be disruptive.
